As we move into a New Year, many of us take time to reflect on the past 365 days. Some of us are bidding it farewell with a swift kick of the frozen boot, others are hoping 2019 is just as awesome as 2018!
No matter where you fall on this spectrum, we can probably all raise a hand (reluctantly) to bad choices, bad memories and downright awful days. We can also find days where the sun shone bright and memories were created that will always bring us a smile.
In my personal life, 2018 started out with tragedy. Our family lost numerous members in a matter of months. It was tragic, it was awful and it changed the mindsets and paths of many. In the midst of all the tragedy, our family came together in a way we could only dream was possible. And in the darkest days, we found light in one another.
My clients were supportive, understanding and willing to help out when needed. They were positive and a light that was welcomed and needed. This was the first of many incidents in 2018 where I realized that my clients were much more than just clients!
In 2018 I was fortunate to travel with great friends and family. I have also had the opportunity to teach a lot of new clients and expand my knowledge.
See below the pictures of my 2018 shining moments!
These pictures are just a small sampling of some amazing moments and highlights in 2018. I traveled to Duck Mountains, Swan River in January and August, Cuba in January, Edmonton in March and November, Minneapolis in July, Portland in September and Calgary/Banff in October.
In June, Christophe proposed to me and as you can see from the picture I was shocked, and got caught on film doing the ugly cry! The following weekend, we took a trip to Toronto to celebrate our engagement!
In July, I took a road trip south to Minneapolis and throughout the year, I visited friends in Minnesota multiple times. This year has been one for the books, and although not everything was wonderful, much of it was!
Below are some of the highlights of Body Rolling 2018!
2018 started a little unusual! I was featured on CTV Morning Live (but not live because I would have swore or said something only I find is funny). In February I taught my first Prenatal Body Rolling class, and as usual, I taught many series throughout the Winter, Spring and Fall. In the summer, I hosted Bring a Friend to Class and Date Night, giving me the opportunity to meet many of my clients friends and family. I also had the opportunity to work with a corporate group from UPS and the 17U Junior Bisons Volleyball Team.
In April, we rented a studio, not for Body Rolling, but for our first photo shoot! It was an amazing experience and I am so lucky to have found and become friends with #suszkophotography.
Once a month throughout the summer, I participated in the Farmer's Market at Bronx Park to educate the public on Body Rolling! I made great connections with new clients, old friends and even some new opportunities to teach!
In September I headed to Portland for Yamuna Foot Fitness Certification. This was an awesome trip and an intense course. Working my feet for hours a day was a new experience for me. Portland, Oregon was never on my bucket list, but has made its way there! I will be returning as it may have been one of my favourite places to explore.
Upon returning from Portland, I began teaching 4 times per week, 2 classes and 2 private sessions. I started work with a new and great private client, I said goodbye to my snowbirds, and I met Sophie Inkster who has been a tremendous inspiration to me (Sophie is a certified practitioner and is here from Europe and teaching Body Rolling in Selkirk to many of my clients and new Body Rollers in the area).
Throughout the Fall I kept very busy with Body Rolling, and personally also had a lot of Family news/events. Some clients went above and beyond to help me with classes and simply put, dropped a shoulder for me to lean on.
Again, I was reminded that my clients are more than just clients.
As 2018 has come to a close, I am so thankful for all of my thoughtful and kind clients. I have created strong relationships, and amazing memories to carry forward.
Happy New Year!
